Made to the Opening, Not Ordered From a Catalogue
Most coolroom doors are bought in at standard sizes, which means the opening has to be framed to suit the door. That is fine on a new room being built from scratch. It is a problem on a room that already exists, where the opening is whatever the last builder left behind and the nearest standard door is either too small to seal properly or too big to fit without cutting into panel that is doing a job.
Because we make the doors ourselves, the sizing runs the other way around: you give us the opening and the door is built to it. On older rooms that is often the difference between replacing a door and rebuilding a wall.
Sliding, Bi-Part and Hinged
Hinged
The straightforward choice where there is room to swing. Simple hardware, fewer moving parts to wear, and the easiest to seal well and keep sealing.
Sliding
Where a swing would foul racking, a walkway or a forklift run. The door travels along the wall instead of into the room, which buys back floor space you were otherwise keeping clear.
Bi-part
Two leaves parting from the centre, for wide openings where a single leaf would be unwieldy. Common where pallets go through rather than people and trolleys.
All three are fitted with quality seals and fixings. Which one suits is a question about the space around the opening and how your crew moves stock through it, not about the room temperature.
Freezer Doors Are a Different Build
A door holding minus 18 has a problem a chiller door does not: moisture at the seal line freezes, and a frozen seal either tears when the door is opened or stops sealing altogether. Replacing a Door on an Existing Room
A replacement is the same job as a new door: we measure the opening you already have and build to it, so the door fits the frame instead of the frame being cut about to take a stock size. That matters most on older rooms, where openings have usually drifted well away from anything standard.
Worth a check first, though. If the door still shuts and the complaint is a leak or a drag, that is normally the hardware rather than the door, and coolroom door repairs is the cheaper conversation. We would rather tell you that than sell you a door you do not need.
Supply Only or Supplied and Fitted
Doors can be supplied on their own for your own crew or builder to fit, the same way we supply coolroom panels supply only. If we are already building the room, the door is part of the job. Either way it is quoted as its own line item, so you can see what the door costs separately from everything else.

Do you make coolroom doors, or just fit them?
We make them. Doors are built to the opening rather than ordered in a fixed size and packed out to fit, which is what lets us match an existing frame on an older room. They can be supplied on their own or as part of a panel order.
Can you make a door to fit an opening that already exists?
Yes, and that is the usual reason people call. Give us the opening size and how the room is used and the door is made to suit, so you are not rebuilding a wall to take a standard door.
What types of coolroom door do you make?

How much does a coolroom door cost?

Can I buy a coolroom door supply only?
Yes. Supply only is standard for us, the same as it is with panels. Your own crew or builder fits it, and we supply the door made to your sizes with the seals and fixings to match.
Do you make cold room doors as well?
Cold room and coolroom are the same thing in practice, and yes. The build is the same: an insulated door made to the opening, with the door type and hardware chosen to suit how the room gets used.
My door still shuts but it leaks. Do I need a new one?
Often not. A leak is usually the hardware rather than the door itself, so coolroom door repairs is the cheaper first step. A new door earns its cost when the blade itself is damaged or worn, or when the room has changed use and the door no longer suits the traffic through it.
