Panel Supply
Cool Room Panels in Sydney: EPS‑FR and PIR, Supplied to Spec
We design, supply and construct coolrooms, which means we also sell the panels themselves. EPS-FR and PIR insulated panels cut to your spec, with the doors, extrusions and sealants to match. Supply only or supplied and installed, your call.
EPS-FR or PIR: Which Core Do You Need?
EPS-FR (fire retardant expanded polystyrene) is the workhorse of Australian cold storage. It is lightweight, cost effective, locally manufactured and fire retardant, which makes it the sensible pick for chillers, food storage and most commercial coolrooms running above zero. Because it is made locally, common sizes are available quickly and replacements are easy to match years later.
PIR (polyisocyanurate) costs more per panel but gives you higher thermal performance per millimetre and stronger fire resistance. It is the default for freezer rooms, pharmaceutical storage and food manufacturing environments where compliance requirements are stricter and the cost of losing temperature is higher. If you are building a freezer room, plan on PIR.
Panel Thicknesses
Walls and ceilings are commonly supplied in 50, 75, 100 and 150 mm. The colder the room, the thicker the panel: 50 to 75 mm covers chillers and cool storage, 100 mm is the standard commercial coolroom spec, and freezer rooms step up to 100 to 150 mm, usually in PIR. Under-sizing panel thickness saves money once and costs money every month after, so if you are between two options, the running cost argument almost always favours the thicker panel.
Cool Room Panel Prices
Panel supply typically runs $40 to $70 per square metre depending on core and thickness. Freezer-grade PIR costs more than standard EPS-FR. Those figures are supply guidance, not a quote: door openings, corner details and flashings all move the final number, which is why we confirm firm pricing after a free site inspection or through the online quote form. If you want to understand what a whole room costs rather than just the panels, read the coolroom cost guide.
Supply Only or Supply and Install
We do both. Builders, shopfitters and owner-installers buy panels from us supply only, cut to spec and delivered with everything needed to finish the job. If you would rather hand the whole thing over, our own crews handle coolroom construction end to end: panels, doors, corners, fixings and sealants, installed by the people who supplied them. One point of responsibility, no gap between the panel supplier and the installer when something needs sorting.
Matching Doors and Hardware
A panel order is rarely just panels. We supply custom insulated doors sized to your openings, aluminium extrusions (supplied via Capral) for corners and junctions, plus rivets and sealants matched to the panel system. Ordering the hardware with the panels means everything fits together on site instead of being improvised from three different suppliers.
Get Panel Pricing for Your Job
The fastest route is the online quote form: room or panel spec, rough sizes and timing take about two minutes. If the job has any complexity, book a free site inspection and we will measure it properly and quote panels, hardware and installation as separate line items so you can compare supply only against supplied and installed.
Cool Room Panel FAQs
How much do cool room panels cost?
Panel supply typically runs $40 to $70 per square metre depending on core and thickness. Freezer-grade PIR sits at the top of that range and above. We give firm pricing after a free site inspection or through the online quote form, because door openings, corners and flashings change the real number.
Should I use EPS or PIR for a freezer room?
PIR is the usual choice for freezer rooms. It delivers higher thermal performance per millimetre and better fire resistance, which matters when you are holding -20°C around the clock. EPS-FR remains a sound, cost effective option for chillers and standard cold storage above zero.
Do you sell panels without installation?
Yes. Supply only is a standard part of our business. We supply panels cut to your spec along with matching doors, aluminium extrusions, rivets and sealants, so your own crew or builder has everything needed to complete the room.
What thickness do I need?
As a guide: 50 to 75 mm suits chillers and cool storage above zero, 100 mm is the common all-rounder for commercial coolrooms, and freezer rooms generally run 100 to 150 mm with PIR core. The right answer depends on temperature, room size and duty, which is what the site inspection confirms.
How quickly can panels be supplied in Sydney?
Standard EPS-FR panels are locally manufactured, so common sizes and thicknesses turn around quickly. Custom lengths, PIR cores and matching doors add lead time. Tell us your dates in the quote and we will confirm supply timing up front.
